On 21–22 October, Pauline RIEU (INRAE) and Bruno Guerdener (LNE) represented TwinLoop at the workshop organized by ILSI Europe on non-PET plastic recycling.
This event provided an opportunity to discuss the safety of recycling processes for polyolefins (PO) and polystyrene (PS) in the context of the upcoming European PPWR regulation.
Discussions focused on regulatory challenges, analytical and technological issues related to decontamination, and the development of suitable evaluation criteria for these materials.
We took part in the polyolefin working group, dedicated to identifying future safety criteria for these polymers.
The exchanges highlighted:
🔹 the need for better characterization of post-consumer streams,
🔹 the importance of adapting contamination models to PO,
🔹 and the need to harmonize evaluation practices and methodologies at the European level.
This was a highly valuable participation for TwinLoop, whose work is fully aligned with the efforts to ensure safe and reliable closed-loop recycling of non-PET plastics.
